Get ready for the electric Jeep revolution, Canada! As 2024 beckons, Jeep Canada prepares to make an electrifying mark in the automotive world with two brand-new electric models. The Jeep Recon EV and Wagoneer EV have just presented their stellar debuts and are gearing up to hit global markets, including our home turf.
Jeep Recon EV: Rugged and Ready for the Trails
Following in the tire tracks of the popular plug-in hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4Xe, the Jeep Recon EV is here to blend Jeep's quintessential Trail Rated capabilities with an environmentally-friendly battery-electric powertrain. Though the full technical specs remain a guarded secret, early reports hint at an electric 4X4 system powered by Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system.
Christian Meunier, the Jeep brand CEO, has already staked a claim on the Recon's prowess. He believes that this EV has the mettle to tackle the formidable Rubicon Trail, one of the U.S.' most challenging off-road terrains. As for its official in-person debut, we'll have to wait till next year. Though American customers will get a chance to reserve their Recon EV in early 2023, the timeline for Canadian orders remains hazy.
Jeep Wagoneer EV: Luxury Meets Electric Performance
If the Recon EV is the rugged adventurer, the Jeep Wagoneer EV is the sophisticated, urban counterpart. Slated for production in North America in 2024, the Wagoneer EV ditches the conventional boxy Jeep silhouette for a sleek, aerodynamic design that's bound to turn heads.
Targeting the premium mid-size SUV market, Jeep is pulling out all the stops. With a targeted output of 600 horsepower, this EV can zoom from zero to 97 km/h in just about 3.5 seconds.
And if you're concerned about range, the estimated 643 km on a single charge should put those fears to rest. What's more, Jeep promises an SUV brimming with state-of-the-art technology, luxurious craftsmanship, and the familiar 4x4 capability.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe: The Reinvention of the Quintessential
The Jeep Wrangler has always been a beacon of off-road excellence, and the 2024 model, unveiled at the 2023 New York Auto Show, only intensifies that legacy. With competitors like the Toyota 4Runner and Ford Bronco in its rearview, the Wrangler's advanced trims boast larger tires, elevated ground clearance, and trail-conquering features. These launches aim to make half of Jeep's U.S. sales fully electric by 2030 and turn its European sales 100% electric within the same timeframe.
